The Tribal Nations Tax Association at the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe’s Royal River Casino August 26th & 27th. The Tax Commissioners representing eight Tribes were: Bill Schumacher, Gordon Jones, Sr., Elizabeth Wakeman- Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe, John Red Bear, Bernice Iron Eyes, Augustine Davila, Robert Fool Bear Sr., Aleta Martin, Phillip Farrell, Jr., Manaja Unjinca Hill, and Elaine McLaughlin-Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, Ronald Neiss, Whitney Meek, Willie Kendell, Tony Rogers & Ed Clairmont- Rosebud Sioux Tribe, Kathy Winckler -Yankton Sioux Tribe, Noreen K. Cavanaugh & Robert LaFromboise-Spirit Lake Oyate, ND, Joe Red Cloud- Oglala Sioux Tribe, and Lynette Dupris- Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe.
The Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Council members attending were: Jake Thompson-Vice President, and Tribal Council Members: J.R. Rondell, Floyd Kirk, Jr., Terri Larsen and Dandra Bernard.
Sam Allen-Trustee IV and Richard Allen, Jr.-Trustee II from the Flandreau Santee Sioux Executive Committee also attended the meeting on Tuesday, August 26th.
Agenda for discussion for the gathering of the Lakota, Nakota and Dakota Nations were:
Gaming Tax & Development, State’s Tactics Against Tribal Gaming, Tourism Tax Law, State Tourism Tax Law, Gross Receipts Tax, Telecommunications, Utilities, Tribal Gross Receipts Tax Law and Resolution, Review of States Gross Receipts Tax Law, Tax Agreements, Oil Drilling Agreements-Legislative Acts, Tribal Tax Status and other Tax Concerns and Issues. The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe hosted the meeting.
