John Bechen, GIS/GAP Coordinator for the FSST Natural Resources Department has accepted a new position as Environmental Director for the Cheyenne Arapaho Tribe at Concho, Oklahoma. John will start on September 11th.
John has been employed with the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe for the past ten years. He started his employment with the Tribe with Royal River Technologies, Inc., FSST Health Clinic and the Natural Resources Department. During his employment with Natural Resources he also served as acting Director for the Department.
John served in the US Air Force for 20 years and retired. John and his wife Rosalie have two daughters, Stephanie and Cisalie. Stephanie works for a Public Relations Company at Colorado Springs, Colorado. Cisalie is a senior at Dakota Wesleyan College, Mitchell, SD. John’s daughter oldest daughter from a previous marriage, Jorie and his two granddaughters Saraya and Najay live in Sioux Falls.
John is the son of Della Bechen, Flandreau and the late Vernon Bechen. John stated: “after my daughter Cisalie graduates from college next spring, Rosalie will join me in Oklahoma. Oh, and I have some property for sale too, two rental houses and an apartment building, except for our main house and home will be up for sale later.”
John was born in New Jersey and raised in Flandreau and is a “home town guy.” He said: “I have enjoyed working with everyone here at the Tribe and I made good friends here. But I will be back to visit my mother frequently.”
John will be an asset to the Cheyenne Arapaho Tribe with his skills and abilities and advanced computer knowledge and GIS tracking. John’s great sense of humor and booming laugh will be missed around the Tribal offices and departments. We wish him the best of luck!-Editor |
