The FSST Executive Committee appointed Gina (Herrick) Williams to fill the Trustee III position.  Gina was appointed on February 25th and was one of thirteen tribal members that applied for and was interviewed for the position.  Gina will complete the two and half year term that was formerly held by her mother, the late Darlene Allen Bernard, who passed away on October 17, 2007.

Gina is a lifelong resident of Flandreau, attended and graduated from Flandreau Public Schools and has been employed by the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe for the past eighteen years.

She has been employed as the Purchasing Agent for the past eight years. Gina has experience working with the Tribe as Payroll Clerk, Contract Administration, Finance Clerk, and Certification Clerk for the Food Commodity Program, Bingo Hall, and Bingo Hall cook. Gina also was employed at Flandreau Indian School as a Teachers Aide and Dining Room aide.

Gina and her husband Dave Williams, FSST Custodian, have three children, Cindy Lee, CJ, and Samantha.

Gina is the daughter of the late Darlene Allen Bernard and Maynard Herrick, Sr. and the granddaughter of the late Ray and Laverne (Redwing) Allen.  She is the proud grandmother of her 11- month old grandson David James.

FSST Judge Sherman Marshall performed the swearing in ceremony via speakerphone with Kristie Bietz Clerk of FSST Courts  officating.

After the swearing in ceremony Gina stated: “I want every body to know that while I am in office I promise to do what I can for the whole membership, for everyone and all the employees to ensure they are treated fairly across the board.  I feel as a council member that we are no better than anyone else and I will support our constitution and try to make sure that our constitution and bylaws are followed.”

Congratulations Gina! You have been a great co-worker and friend in the Tribal office.
