Our Constitution
The Constitution of the United States places treaties as the Supreme Law of the land. The Dakota people of the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe are parties to various treaties made with the United States, the rights associated with such treaties are acknowledged. Those treaty rights and the guidance contained in the FSST Constitution and its Preamble provides tribal leadership with the direction and their mission in servicing the needs of their people and strives to regain the traditional, cultural and spiritual values of their heritage and mandates that the sovereignty and well-being of all tribal members be protected at all times.
