Michael W. Lovejoy

Born: September 16, 1940

Journeyed to the Spirit World

October 14th, 2006

Michael W. Lovejoy, age 66, passed away at his residence in St. Paul on Oct 14, 2006. Michael was born on September 16, 1940 in Pipestone, MN the son of Rudolph and Gloria (Cavender) Lovejoy. Michael was a high school graduate and attended Devry in Chicago, IL. As a young man he married Marjorie J. Hatcher on December 15, 1962 in Chicago, IL. From 1966 until 1968 Michael honorably served in the United States Military and was discharged from Fort Hood, Texas. He worked for 3M in research and development for 25 years. During his career he proudly represented 3M as a Visiting Wizard; a program in which 3M employees visited local schools and taught sciences in the classroom. He also was sponsored by 3M as a member of The American Indians in Science and Engineering Society. As a member of AISES he actively presented and attended conferences throughout the U.S. for 10 years. In his spare time Michael enjoyed gardening and trips to the casino. He also spent time as a T.V. repairman. Michael will be greatly missed by his wife Marjorie Jean (Hatcher) Lovejoy of Hudson, WI, daughters Jennifer Lynn Lovejoy of Hammond, WI, Jill Kristina Lovejoy of Hudson, WI, Lisa Gay Lovejoy of Flandreau, SD, his grandson Derrick Anthony Lovejoy of Hudson, WI, his brothers Rudolph (Linda) Lovejoy of Albuquerque, NM, David (Nellie) Lovejoy of Denver, CO, Frederick Lovejoy of Flandreau, SD, mother-in-law Eleanor Hatcher of Grantsburg, WI, sister-in-law Sandra Anderson of Rice Lake, WI, brothers-in-law Ken (Carol) Hatcher of Spooner, WI and Steven (Mariann) Hatcher of Grantsburg, WI, and many nieces and nephews. Michael is preceded in death by his parents Rudolph and Gloria and his daughter Joy Lynn Lovejoy.

A memorial gathering will be held at 6:00PM on Tuesday, October 17th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson, WI. Michael will be laid to rest with his family in Flandreau, SD.
