Joe Eugene was born June 14, 1990 in Grand Forks, ND to Margo Gourd and Dennis “Mickey” Peterson. Joe is the youngest triplet.  Joe attending Early Head Start (formerly CCDP program) at Fort Totten and Head Start in St. Michael.  Joe attended Prairie View Elementary in Devils Lake, Lincoln Elementary in Fargo and Central Middle School in Devils Lake, Devils Lake High School and was currently a Senior at Warwick High School.  Joe was looking forward to graduating in May and going to college at UND in Grand Forks.

Joe Peterson was an out-going, energetic, friendly, humorous, helpful, and pleasant young man.  Joe enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially enjoyed spending time with his favorite cousin, Luvenna Azure.  He was so proud of her and loved her very much.  Joe enjoyed playing basketball, fishing, bowling, cruising with friends, listening to music, chatting and networking with friends on the Internet.  Joe was a member of the JROTC at Devils Lake High School while he attending school there.  He was recently a candidate for 2007 Prom King at Warwick High School.  For summer employment, Joe worked on grain bins throughout North Dakota.  He was a member of the Boxing Club in St. Michael.  He was training and looking forward to his first bout.  Joe Eugene was the kind of person that was easy-going, liked to joke around, very supporting and loving.  His big smile and caring ways will be dearly missed by his family and friends.  Although Joe’s life on earth was very brief, he left a legacy of love and caring for his family.  Joe Eugene will be so very missed by his family and friends, but we shall hold his loving memory in our hearts forever.  Joe may be gone, but he will never be forgotten to all that knew him.

I’m Free

Don’t Grieve for me, for now I’m Free

I’m following the path God laid for me

I took his hand when I heard Him call

I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day

To laugh, to love, to work or play

Tasks left undone must stay that way

I found that peace at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void

Then fill it with remembered joy.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,

Ah yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow,

I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My Life’s been full, I savored much,

Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief

Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.

Lift up your heart and share with me

God wanted me now; He set me free.
