Ross Allen Wade, 70 of Flandreau died unexpectedly, Saturday, April 2 in Fort Worth TX, while visiting family.
Ross Allen was born August 9th, 1934 at the Flandreau Indian School to Ross B. and Clara Allen Wade. He grew up in Phoenix, AZ living at the Phoenix Indian School and in Flandreau where he graduated from Flandreau High School in 1952. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force spending four years in France where he met and married his wife Charlotte Lenzing on November 16, 1957. Upon returning to the states, they resided in Albuquerque. In 1995, he retired and they moved to Flandreau. His wife preceded him in death on June 20, 2001. Ross was a member of the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe and served on many boards for the Tribe. He loved supporting his granddaughters in their activities.
Survivors include one daughter: Laurel (Buddy) Tye of Flandreau; two adopted sons: Kimon Lee and Damon Lee: two granddaughters: Rhiannon and Alysha; two brothers: Don (Kittie) of Flandreau and Dean (Mary) of Fort Worth, TX; one sister: Dorothy (Rolfe) Black of Santa Fe, NM and one sister-in-law: Marilyn Wade of Flandreau. He was preceded in death by his wife, his son Allen, his parents, his brother Jon and his grandparents John and Ida Wakeman Allen.
Services were held April 8th, with Pastor Dave Knutson at Skroch Funeral Chapel. Burial is in the First Presbyterian cemetery, rural Flandreau. Pallbears were Buddy Tye, Kimon Lee, Damon Lee, Wade Black, Randy Wade, Jim Geffre and Jerry Lane |
