Gerald "Jerry" Duane Kitto

Journeyed to the Spirit World

November 14, 2007

SANTEE, Neb. — Gerald “Jerry” Duane Kitto, age 60, of Santee, NE passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at the Golden Living Center-Norfolk, Norfolk, NE.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2007, at Oyate Oyanke Community Center with Holy Communion at the Our Most Merciful Savior Episcopal Church, Santee, NE with Rev. David Hussey officiating. Burial will be in the Congregational Cemetery, Santee, NE.

Visitations begin Thursday evening and continue until service time on Saturday with prayer services at 8:00 p.m. each evening.

Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory of Yankton is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Roger Trudell, Jim James, Gary Veseley, Butch Denny, Terry Whipple, Marion Brandt, Jerry James and Dave Henry. Honorary pallbearers are all his family and friends.

Jerry worked most of his life in the construction field, retiring recently due to his declining health. Up to his time of death, Jerry was a member of the Tribal Council of the Santee Sioux Nation of Nebraska.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Cheryl; daughters: Mawana and Monica; sons: Jerry, Jason and Justin; grandchildren: Adam, David, Jared, Shaelyn, Sophie, Caiden, Darlene, Erika, Waniyetu and Wolfgang; his sister, Lucy Bearing; as well as many nieces and nephews and great friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle (LaCroix) and Ray Kitto; his stepfather, Luther Kitto; and brothers: Wilfred, Richard and Dean.
