FSST Children's Christmas Party

On Sunday December 16th, the FSST Christmas Party was held at Eastman Hall, which was decorated in colorful Christmas themes of  green, red, and  blue tablecloths.  A  lunch  of turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn , fresh bread and assorted desserts was served at 12:30 P.M.and catered by the Grace Moore Senior Citizens Center.

After the meal and dessert, Santa Claus & Mrs. Claus made their appearance and they totally   surprised all the children.  Santa Claus & Mrs. Claus were seated beside the Christmas tree in front of the decorated fireplace.  After the initial shock of seeing “the real Santa & Mrs. Claus” (aka Dave & Kathy Bennett  of Flandreau) the children got in  line for a picture and received a gift bag  containing  a stuffed animal, $10 Walmart gift card, an apple, orange, assorted  candies, and peanuts.  There was a total of 90 children that received a picture with Santa and a gift bag.  The children were not the only ones that received goodies, the adults were given  a gift bag containing either a  holiday  theme pot holder  or a dish towel and an apple, orange, and assorted candies; 100 adult gift bags were given out.

After everyone visited with Santa, Francis  (Frank) Wakeman III told  the children 11years and  older with a permission slip from their parents, that they were ready  for a fun afternoon of tubing at Great Bear in Sioux Falls.

Just when the parents were getting their little ones ready to take them home, a horse drawn sleigh arrived driven by Mr. & Mrs. Lauren Smith of Flandreau.  The sleigh was exactly what a horse drawn sleigh is supposed to look like and the Smith’s seemed to enjoy themselves almost as much as the children.

“Hats Off and Thank You” for a wonderful Christmas party goes to the party committee: Deb Wakeman, Julie Stephens, Francis Wakeman III, and Marcie Redday!
